The Clark & Taft story begins with a simple belief that bags should be
made in the USA, made by hand, and made to last.

We love bags made out of waxed canvas and leather. But we were tired of their uninspired conventional designs, low-quality materials, and poor construction.

Clark & Taft was born when our founder, Silvia, was in search of the perfect anniversary gift for her partner – a monogrammed dopp kit. She was seeking something that was rugged and durable while also modern, functional and stylish with the versatility to keep up with his everyday life. However, most dopp bags didn’t fully consider all of these needs.

Silvia set her mind on creating a brand focused on what we believe matters most: small-batch American manufacturing, top-quality materials, solid lasting construction, timeless style, complementary bespoke monograms, and incredible customer experience.

Our bags are made by hand in small batches in Portland, Oregon and in Austin, Texas. It takes an entire team of experienced artisans to make a single bag. Why small batches? Because we believe in rigorous quality standards and unapologetic attention to detail.
